Cardboard

Most types of cardboard must be recycled in your blue bin. Please flatten cardboard boxes.

Cardboard is accepted at all LRSWMD drop-off locations.

At our Stowe site, we accept corrugated (two-sided and ribbed in the middle, like most shipping boxes) cardboard in a separate location than the rest of recyclables. This allows us to bale all cardboard together and to send it directly to a processor, saving the step of traveling to the MRF (materials recovery facility) in Williston and then traveling to a cardboard processor from there. This reduces our overall carbon footprint. Other cardboard (thinner boxboard like cereal boxes, etc.) can go with regular recycling.
