EMPTY aerosol containers that once contained hazardous waste (labeled “Poisonous,” “Corrosive,” “Reactive”, “Toxic” or “Flammable”) should be recapped when disposed of with household trash. There is always harmful reside remaining in the container which can be dangerous to workers at the recycling facility, therefore they should never be disposed of in the recycling.
Aerosol containers still containing hazardous materials should be brought to a household hazardous waste collection event.
