PLASTIC BAGS / FILM PLASTIC
DISPOSAL INFO
Film plastics* can be recycled as special recycling at all LRSWMD locations. Collect them SEPARATELY from the rest of your recycling at home and bring them to us. They’ll then be made into outdoor furniture through the NexTrex recycling program.
!! PLEASE, NEVER put film plastics in your blue bin recycling. They can cause major problems at the MRF (recycling facility)!!
If you don’t collect them separately to bring them to us or to a local grocery store drop-off, film plastics belong in the trash.
*We only accept STRETCHY plastics (including bubble wrap and bubble mailers). If it crinkles or doesn’t stretch when you stick your thumb through it, it should go in the trash.
For a full list of accepted items, see the green box on this page. All items should be CLEAN and DRY. Wood pellet and Salt bags – both ends must be completely cut off, then the bag must be turned inside out to release residual dust; OR both ends must be completely cut off and the bag must be completely cut down one side to make an open plastic sheet
