MERCURY CONTAINING DEVICES

Some common items contain mercury, including thermometers, thermostats, fluorescent lamps, ballasts, dairy barn manometers, etc. Mercury-containing items should not be discarded as trash but should be properly recycled.

Thermostats can be collected at LRSWMD Drop-Off Locations, or brought to Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events to be exchanged for a digital thermometer.

Fore more information about recycling and disposing of mercury containing devices, visit the DEC page regarding Mercury.
