Vaping devices are not banned from disposal in VT. Some manufacturers of these devices may offer a take back program so check online to see if available.

Liquid nicotine which is found in these devices and in refill cartridges is considered a p- listed hazardous waste when coming from a regulated generator such as a business.

If the nicotine is coming from a resident, it is exempt and may be disposed in VT. However, due to both its potency and liquid state, we recommend collecting nicotine at HHW collection events and facilities.

In addition, the VT Department of Health informed us that liquid nicotine refills may be collected at the permanent prescription drug disposal sites. Please note this option would only be for the refill bottles and not the vaping devices themselves. Please see the map of collection sites here:
