Stowe Transfer Station

Location: 91 Dump Road, Stowe Village. Just off Mountain Road between the Baggy Knees Shopping Plaza and AJ's Ski and Sports.

Glass can now be recycled separately at the Stowe Transfer Station.  Sort it separately at home and easily empty it into the clearly marked bin when you arrive! Make your recycling lighter and your visit just a little quicker.

ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS: Any clear/colored glass beverage & food container (remove caps if possible)

UNACCEPTABLE MATERIALS: Headlights, Thermometers, Incandescent or Fluorescent Light Bulbs, Plastics, Automotive/Windshield Glass, Pyrex, Drinking Glasses, Window Panes, Ceremics (ie. coffee mugs), Prcelain (ie, toilets, sinks, etc.), Plexiglass, Mirrors

Redemption Center*: Closed Tuesday, Saturday, & Sunday; All other days, 7:30am -3:00pm. Due to COVID conditions, the Redemption Room may close without notice. Call 802-253-4059 to check for open status.

*The Stowe Bottle Redemption Room is open again. There's a new look and some new requirements but it's back and open for counting. Due to COVID conditions, the Redemption Room may be closed without notice. Call 802-253-4059 before arrival if you want to know before you load if you will be able to have your containers counted.  You will always be able to leave containers for donation.

  • New location: On the north corner of the lower building where the Reuse Room used to be.
  • One person/party permitted in the room at a time
  • Limit of three 45-gallon bags (or equivalent) per visit 
  • Call 802-730-4952 to make an appointment if you have greater than 3 bags of containers

Many items are not safe to discard with your regular trash. Other items have value when reused or recycled making it important to keep them out of the landfill. The State of Vermont is proactive to ensure certain materials are handled properly to protect the safety of its residents and its environment. The items listed below are accepted at our Stowe Transfer Station:

  • Furniture and Bulky Waste
  • Leaf & Yard Debris (must be in kraft bags)
  • Maple Tubing (by appointment call 802.730.4952)
  • Mercury Products
  • Mixed Recyclables (Aluminum, Cardboard, Paper, Plastic)
  • Plastic Shopping Bags
  • Propane Tanks
  • Reuse - ReUse is Closed
  • Returnable Bottles and Cans - for donation only, payouts are not being done during COVID. Reformatting to open later this fall.
