DISPOSAL INFO
Appliances (refrigerators, ranges, microwaves, washers, dryers, dishwashers, freezers, dehumidifiers, etc.) are banned from the landfill in Vermont.
LRSWMD accepts appliances for special recycling at our Johnson, Morrisville, Stowe and Worcester stations.
Please remove refrigerator doors. DO NOT REMOVE FREON.
COST
Appliances w/ refrigerant* — $12
*Refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, etc. Please remove refrigerator doors.
Other appliances — $5
THE RECYCLING PROCESS
The appliances will be processed to remove hazardous materials such as fluorescent lighting, ballasts, capacitors, mercury-containing switches, and refrigerants. Once processed, the units are then recycled as scrap metal.
REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE
Used appliances can be donated to the ReSource in Williston. Please note that the Hyde Park ReSource CANNOT accept used appliances for donation. For donation info for the Williston ReSouce location, see here.
